Ramesses II

In the midst of painting the last 40 odd Covenanters and their horses, I took some time out to paint this. I had bought this about 13 years ago and it had sat languishing in the box, cleaned up but gathering dust.  It is the Foundry Pharaoh model with Chariot runner and family pet.

It was great fun to paint - having a whole different palate to my usual hodden grey or unwashed dark age tones.  Getting the lion right was tricky but just being bold made a big difference.

  1. Wow - sorry for missing this one earlier - awesome brushwork - the shield motif is superb! Love the grouping and dynamics.

  2. Thanks Dean - the shield is actually embossed so it was a doodle to paint up.

  3. Gorgeous!!! I can not show my Egyptian army anymore after looking at yours! Really stunning, excellent job!
